The Tri-Shark Triathlon

Section Divider The Tri-Shark Triathlon

The Tri-Shark Triathlon will be held on Saturday, June 5 at Comlara County Park, Hudson, IL.  Nearly 700 participants will take on the  600 meter swim, 13 mile bike and 5k run.  Triathlon is considered a "lifestyle" sport and many triathletes have found Aussies to be the perfect fit for their active lifestyles.   New Spirit 4 Aussie Rescue will have a booth and several dogs at the Tri-Shark event.

Meet Stormy

Section Divider Meet Stormy

Here is a young guy who has had a bit of a rough past. He came to us quite underweight, and we are glad to say he is gaining pounds and confidence each day.

Stormy, a blue merle male that is small in size, is great with other dogs, happy and bouncy all day. He has taken a few weeks to learn how to trust his foster family, a bit skittish when people move towards him. Especially men in hats! Stormy does well off a leash and stays quite close to us all day long.

Stormy would be perfect in a new home that understands his fears and concerns and is ready to work with him to help conquer them over time. For more information contact David Thurman at (309) 222-5211.

Introducing New Spirit

Section Divider Introducing New Spirit

New Spirit 4 Aussie Rescue is an all-volunteer non-profit 501(c)(3) organization serving Australian Shepherds and Aussie mixes throughout the United States. A new chapter was recently developed by David Thurman here in Illinois, and is already quite active in helping the Aussie breed each day.

New Spirit evaluates Australian Shepherds and Australian Shepherd mixes from selected shelters and private owners no longer able to keep their Aussies.  If a dog is judged suitable for placement dog with an average adopter, we foster it in private homes and get to know the dog.  We then post the dog to our website and place it in an adoptive home where the energy levels, expectations and personalities are a good fit.

If you would like to learn more visit www.ns4ar.org and find out what dogs are up for adoption or how you can volunteer your time.

What Is A Blue Merle?

Section Divider What Is A Blue Merle?

The most popular color on an Aussie is probably the Blue Merle. But Aussies come in all sorts of colors. There are Red Merles, Red Tris, Red Bi's, Black Tri's and Black Bi's. There are also solid black, solid red, white ones and self merles. Then we have Dilutes, Yellows, Sables, Brindles. What other breed can have so many colors and so many personalities? Well none we can think of.
